WELCOME TO THE EDGE HOCKEY PROGRAM

We have launched an exciting new program in 2009/10 - our Kyle Stuart Memorial Arena Seat Campaign - you can purchase your very own seat(s) or even your own standing area (for those who like to follow the play from end to end!).  This campaign will help ensure we can fill the Arena with great seating for all of our great fans.  Please contact the school at 403-246-6432 for more details or click here for information on the program, your choice of seats and costs.

Check out the following to fully appreciate the Edge School's Hockey program.

Skill Development Program - Our Hockey Skill Academy is an exciting skill development program open to both boys and girls from Grades 6 through 12. On average, students are on the ice three times a week developing their hockey skills.  Under the guidance of professional coaches and a goal-tending instructor, they work on skating techniques, puck control, shooting, defensive play and creativity.

At the end of each term, students are evaluated for their on-ice skills, effort and practice habits. They are assessed using appropriate skills standard and testing programs and scouted for participation in Edge’s Hockey Team Program.

Team Program -  The Team Program is both comprehensive and competitive. We field teams that play in leagues, tournaments and exhibition games in Alberta and throughout North America.

Teams typically practice three to four times a week. Students also work on their mental and physical strength and conditioning off the ice, with a goal of continually improving their skills and ability to play.

A major component of both programs is player promotion and future placement. Students are introduced through travel to North American colleges and universities with respected hockey programs; tournaments and exhibition games are strategically chosen and organized for scouting potential.

Edge School will ice four hockey teams during the 2009 - 10  school year - Boys RAMHL Maroon, Boys RAMHL Gold, Girls Varsity and Boys Prep.

The two RAMHL teams play in the Rural Alberta Midget Hockey League (www.ramhl.com) as well as a slate of games against peer programs across Canada. The level of play is comparable to Midget AA - AAA throughout Alberta.

The Girls Varsity team plays in the Junior Women's Hockey League (http://www.jwhl.org) as well as a schedule of games against elite women's teams.

The Boys Prep blaze a trail against North American prep school programs in both the MidWest Prep Hockey League (www.themphl.com) and the newly formed Canadian Sport Schools Hockey League as well as games against top level Midget AAA programs.

Combining high-level athletics with excellent performance in academics is not simply a matter of skill and fortunate genetics!  It takes lots of hard work, determination and dedication to reach those lofty goals.  Our athletes need not sacrifice school for sports or vice versa.
