News Flash 2009-10

  • Sarah Blanchard has just completed her rookie season of NCAA Soccer at Daniel Webster College in fine style. Sarah's brilliant maiden year was capped with her earning the school's Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year! What was Sarah's impact on her team this season? We will let Sarah's Head Coach Tom McGinness explain: “ Sarah stepped in right away not just as a starter as I expected, but playing at a higher level than even anticipated. When you watch video of players, it is difficult to gauge the competitiveness of the game you are watching with the level of a game you see in a person every day, but Sarah has gone far and beyond what we anticipated her impact being. Her injury in our fourth game derailed our momentum for the time being and forced us into some combinations we had not foreseen using, but the team and myself were glad to hear she would be able to return and the spark she provided in her first game back helped propel the team into the conference playoffs. With her dedication to the game, Sarah could be one of the leading forces for our program as we continue to grow”. Uoward and upward for Sarah on the soccer pitch!
  • Championships seem to follow Ranee Premji wherever she goes.  This year, her maiden season with the University of North Carolina's Tar Heels Soccer squad, saw the Heels win their 21st NCAA National Championship.  WOW - Ranee and her mates were feted at the Gov's Mansion recently - check out the story and photo of Ranee!
  • Veronika Zischka earns All-Academic status! Click here to read more. For those wondering, in order to be named to the All-Academic team, student-athletes must possess a cumulative 3.2 GPA and have competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.  Way to go Ron!
