Brent Devost has over 20 years of coaching and player development experience. Brent began coaching while still engaged in a successful college career at Red Deer College, where he achieved all-conference status and academic/athletic excellence recognition. He has worked as head coach, scout, manager and mentor of players as young as 5 years old to players entering the National Hockey League.

In addition to his extensive coaching experience, Brent holds a Bachelor of Education (University of Calgary). He brings over 15 years experience as teacher, educator, administrator and coach in private schools in Alberta and Quebec (Edge School in Calgary and McGill - Selwyn House in Montreal). Devost’s background in both hockey and education proved invaluable in becoming the Founding Chairman of the Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL). He also served as the inaugural Director of High School Hockey on Hockey Calgary’s Board of Directors.

As Founder of the Edge School for Athletes (Calgary) in 1999, Devost brought his two passions together – education and sport – to create one of the world’s premier sport academies in just 12 short years. As Program Director, he is excited at the opportunity to replicate that successful model at the Edge School Skill Academy Fort McMurray.

In combination with his role as CEO, Brent was the Head Coach and Hockey Director at Edge School for the first 6 years of the schools’ existence before he moved solely into an administrative role to grow the school to where it is today. Devost coached the likes of Joe Colborne – Toronto Maple Leafs, Tyler Myers – Buffalo Sabres, Dan Bertram – Boston College Alumni/Team Canada WJT, Thomas Hickey – LA Kings and former Captain of WJT and Eric Kroshus - Harvard, to name a few high-profile Edge alumni. Brent has also benefited from working with some top quality coaches such as his former coach and good friend Mike Babcock in Detroit and the duo of Guy Boucher and Martin Raymond in Tampa Bay, whom he coached with during his year at McGill University.
