Edge School is a learning community which assists students in the development of their confidence, self-esteem, interpersonal skills and positive life-long values. We weave character development into everything we do from our academic and athletic programs to TAG (teacher advisor groups), special events and projects.
Character is the highest ranking of the 3 components of our Integrated Spheres Model (ISM). The rigorous pursuit of both academic and athletic excellence are ideal vehicles for character development. The four guiding principles of the ISM - Leadership, Effort, Attitude and Dignity - form the foundation for Edge School and are used to shape our expectations for behaviour at all times. Our quest to develop character is rooted in two primary statements of vision and values.
The first statement is our LEAD Model, a deliberate integration of the guiding principles which unite our academic, athletic and character development programs. LEAD is our compass in the creation and implementation of our character development program. These four guiding principles are consistent througout all grades, as are the specific goals associated with these principles. Each of the values both stand alone and in combination with the others as ideals for all of our students.
The second statement is our Mountaineer Code, a living guideline of expectation and obligation – a daily reminder of how we need to think and act in order to allow each of us to thrive in and beyond the Edge School community.
The School’s leaders, teachers and coaches are united in their vision for students. Faculty, staff and coaches all work from the same plan and model the behavior to incorporate character development in the student’s day whether during townhall meetings, athletic programming, DPC centre activities, academic programming, cafeteria conduct, hallways and more.
We graduate young people who can launch out and make a real difference in their world.
