The Edge Hockey Team program balances athletics, academics, sport therapy, and community participation to ensure that each student-athlete can achieve personal excellence.
The Team Program is both comprehensive and competitive, with a goal of continually improving players skills and ability. Teams typically practice on-ice three to four times a week while also working on their mental and physical strength and conditioning off the ice. Students in the Hockey Skill Academy are scouted for participation in the Hockey Team Program.
We currently have 6 Edge Mountaineer Hockey Teams which compete in multiple regional, provincial, national and international tournaments. With the possibility of future expansion, our current Edge Mountaineer Hockey Teams consist of 3 Male Midget Teams, 2 Male Bantam teams and a Female Prep Team. As of 2016-17, all Edge teams will be a part of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL). For schedules and statistics please visit the CSSHL website.
The Mountaineers play an average of 50 games in leagues, tournaments and exhibition games in Alberta, Canada & US. A major component of the Hockey Skill Academy and Team Program is player promotion and future placement. Teams experience early exposure to NCAA, CIS and ACAC university coaches and scouts. Through travel opportunities, student-athletes are introduced to North American colleges and universities with respected hockey programs. Edge also selects and organizes tournaments and exhibition games strategically to enhance scouting potential.
