Congratulations to Edge student Emma Pincott (Gr. 11). She was the Junior Women's Hockey League (West division) player of the week for February 2-5. This is Emma's second year as a goalie with the Edge Girls Prep Hockey Team.
Emma was also the goalie selected for the 2012 JWHL 2nd All Star Team. Erika Sowchuk, forward, (Grade 12) was also selected for this 2nd All Star team. Congratulations! Edge Girls Prep team was well represented at the all star game held on Feb. 16, 2012. In addition to Emma and Erika, forward Karly Heffernan and defense player Zoe Brennan were selected for the game.
The Hockey Team Program is both comprehensive and competitive. Edge School has girl's and boy's hockey teams that play in leagues, tournaments and exhibition games in Alberta and throughout North America. Teams typically practice three to four times a week. Students also work on their mental and physical strength and conditioning off the ice, with a goal of continually improving their skills and ability to play. Students in the Hockey Skill Academy are scouted for participation in the Hockey Team Program.
A major component of the Hockey Skill Academy and Team Program is player promotion and future placement. Students are introduced through travel to North American colleges and universities with respected hockey programs; tournaments and exhibition games are strategically chosen and organized for scouting potential.

Edge School will ice five hockey teams for the 2012-13 school year.
The Girls Prep team plays in the Junior Women's Hockey League (JWHL) in the Major Junior Division (www.jwhl.org) as well as a schedule of games against elite women's teams.
Our newest team, the boys Mountaineers Bantam AAA will play a 35-45 game schedule. While details are still being finalized, this team has made application to play in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL www.naphl.com). As well, we hope to participate in CSSHL Showcase weekends and other tournaments. The creation of this team provides a unique opportunity for Edge student-athletes to play for Edge and enjoy all of the benefits that come when you combine a passion for sport, world-class facilities, excellent educational opportunities and high performance training in one central location.
The two Midget AA teams play as an exhibition team in the Northern Alberta Midget Hockey League (www.namhl.ca) as well as a slate of games against peer programs (CSSHL, etc.) across Canada. The level of play is comparable to Midget AA throughout Alberta.
The Boys Prep blaze a trail against North American prep school programs in both the MidWest Prep Hockey League (www.themphl.com) and the newly formed Canadian Sport Schools Hockey League (www.csshl.ca) as well as games against top level Midget AAA programs.
