Edge Alumni Matt Dumba wins WHL Rookie of the Year

Edge Alumni Mathew Dumba is continuing just getting warmed up in his hockey career. This young defensive player was named WHL Rookie of the Year, Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy at the annual Western Hockey League Awards presented Wednesday, May 4^th at the WHL Awards Luncheon held in Calgary, Alberta. During his acceptance speech, Matt thanked Edge School for playing a key role in his development.

Matt is in his second year with the Red Deer Rebels. In 2009-10, his last year with the Edge Mountaineers Prep Team, Matt helped lead his team to their 1st CSSHL championship and was nominated for CSSHL Top Freshman.
