Joe Colborne, '08, debuts as a Leaf
"This is what dreams coming true are supposed to look like..." says Edge School Principal Tim Main about Joe Colborne's start on April 8 with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Around the Edge School just two days after Joe's debut, the excitement and pride of Joe's success can be felt and heard in the halls, classes and offices.

Mr. Main reflects, "What a start to your career to be playing in a Leafs / Canadien’s game. Joe is a great role model of what being a Mountaineer is all about and this should be something that all of our kids can aspire and dream of being a part of."
Joe Colborne, Edge Class of 08’, suited up with the Toronto Maple Leafs for his first NHL game on Saturday April 8, 2011 against the Montreal Canadiens. Joe started at Edge in grade seven and was a member of the Edge’s outstanding bantam team in 04-05. He went on to play with the Camrose Kodiaks of the AJHL before accepting a scholarship to the University of Denver. In each of the 2 years Joe was in Camrose, he returned to Edge to finish his high school courses and graduated with his Mountaineer classmates. After two full seasons at Denver, Joe decided to turn pro. He was drafted 16th overall by the Boston Bruins in 2009 and traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the trading deadline this season. Joe had been playing the in American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins. Joe was an honors student every year at Edge and the Edge community is proud of his accomplishments."Joe joins Edge classmate and teammate on the 04-05 Mountaineer bantam team, Tyler Myers (Buffalo Sabres, NHL Calder Trophy Winner), as the 2nd Mountaineer in our relatively short 12 year history thus far to play in the NHL. We know there will be many more to follow!", exclaims Main.
