Edge alumni Arianne Jones (center) proudly slid to to the top of the podium to win her Nations Cup Qualification Race for the World Cup. She beat 26 other women for this win. The next day she placed 6th in the World Cup Race for a new personal best result and is now ranked 7th in the World in Womens Senior Luge. In a sport where size and weight favour the athletes, Arianne contradicts with her petite stature. Edge School's Dr. Matt Brown stated "Too small for the World Cup circuit? She begs to differ"! Congratulations Arianne.
Grade 8 Flex Academy student Samantha Starratt walked with her head high at the AHHS/CEDL & Alberta Show Jumping Association year end awards on December 2, 2011. Sam was selected as the Canadian Equestrian Development League athlete of the month for October and received a $1000 bursary from the Alberta Show Jumping Association. It was her lucky night and Sam was very excited when she also won a door prize! Congratulations Sam.
Another Edge student received this honor in the past. In November 2010, Edge alumni Paige Russell '10 was the Athlete of the Month.
