Flex tennis student, Alexander Berdnikoff, is currently travelling in Florida for tournaments and attending Coach Ed Krass’ College Tennis Exposure Camp from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 at the University of South Florida in Tampa with coaches from over twenty of the NCAA Division 1 universities.

Alexander is building off his successes this past summer when he made it to the Semi- Finals and was the Doubles Champion at both the Safe Passage Junior Open and the Long Beach Junior Open. These tournaments are USTA - Southern California sanctioned events.

Arianne Jones

Edge alumni Arianne Jones (center) proudly slid to to the top of the podium to win her Nations Cup Qualification Race for the World Cup. She beat 26 other women for this win. The next day she placed 6th in the World Cup Race for a new personal best result and is now ranked 7th in the World in Womens Senior Luge. In a sport where size and weight favour the athletes, Arianne contradicts with her petite stature. Edge School's Dr. Matt Brown stated "Too small for the World Cup circuit? She begs to differ"! Congratulations Arianne.

samStarratt_20111201Grade 8 Flex Academy student Samantha Starratt walked with her head high at the AHHS/CEDL & Alberta Show Jumping Association year end awards on December 2, 2011. Sam was selected as the Canadian Equestrian Development League athlete of the month for October and received a $1000 bursary from the Alberta Show Jumping Association. It was her lucky night and Sam was very excited when she also won a door prize! Congratulations Sam.

Another Edge student received this honor in the past. In November 2010, Edge alumni Paige Russell '10 was the Athlete of the Month.

Grade 12 student Maren Reinbold at the Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament in September 2011 was awarded one of two RSA Scholarships for her consistent performance in the ring, her horsemanship, sportsmanship, attitude and commitment. This award is held in high esteem at Spruce Meadows and s usually only awarded to professional riders. Maren is the only Junior rider to receive this award in recent years. Congratulations Maren. Sam Edney and Alex Gough will head to Europe to begin the World Cup circuit after winning the Canadian Luge Championships on Saturday morning. Alex Gough's luge World Cup teammate and fellow Calgarian, 21-year-old Arianne Jones (Edge alumni '08), slid to the silver medal with a time of 1:35.451. Kim McRae, 19, rounded out the women's podium in third. The Calgarian clocked-in at 1:35.803.
